Vancouver MMA On a Dime

     ^ Nick Mitha www.nmphotography.org

So you live in Vancouver, one of the worlds most expensive cities, and love like MMA, one of the worlds fastest growing sports, then your pocket book might be in trouble. With MMAs growing popularity people all around town are slapping MMA on their clubs and charging an upwards of a hundred dollars a month on six month to year long contracts and people are paying it, lots and lots of people. But lets say you don’t want to be one of those people perhaps because: you are short on money, hate contracts, and/ or are simply not sold on the glitz and glam of many of the big MMA clubs then I can suggest a few down and dirty clubs for you.

Before I let you in on my secret fight clubs lets remember what MMA means, Mixed Martial Arts. MMA is not a singular style of martial arts and though it is often used as such it is not a brand. MMA is should be; the coming together and mixing of martial arts through mutual respect, cross training and compatition. With that being said here it is: A list of some of the hardest hitting, most bang for your buck clubs in Vancouver. Listed in order of lowest to highest price.

  1. If you are looking for a new affordable Dojo in town check out the Open Dojo located inside Vancouver's Japanese Language school on Powell street.

At the Open Dojo they blend Ashihara Karate with Brazilian Jiu-jistu to create a strong and ever changing mixed martial arts program. The Open Dojo strives to stay aware and stay relevant through keeping a open mind and a open heart.
